BASIC SYNOPSIS: - With thanks to Tanya
Sawyer is the first member of the Walker family who appears in Santa Barbara in spring 1992. He is the innocent and gentle but at the same time lively and impulsive 18 year old boy that came from Florida to go to college. He attends Professor Warren Lockridge's course of journalism along with Lilly Blake and a newcomer named Troy. He becomes very close with Troy and for some time he is suspected by Professor that he is a gay but then turns out that Troy actually is his sister B.J..
Sawyer is the promising ballplayer but he is dreaming about the boxing career. Sawyer is very close with his mother Jodie and has strained relations with his father Reese (partly because of Sawyer's passion to boxing). Both Sawyer's parents are the police officers and the childhood friends of Cruz Castillo. Sawyer falls in love with Lilly Blake and even wins the boxing match for her but she doesn't reciprocate his feelings. At the same time Sawyer meets the mysterious girl, Aurora DeAngelis, who is hiding from people. Sawyer falls in love with her (this time for life) and helps to solve the mystery of her family.
Innocent youth ends for Sawyer when he learns that his sister was raped by an old family friend, Frank Goodman. Sawyer follows Frank and badly beats him. Soon after that Frank is found dead and Sawyer becomes the prime suspect. He is arrested but B.J. helps him runs away. Aurora accompanies him and they go to Philadelphia where they try to start a new life but the police find them. They run away to Boston. Here Sawyer starts to fight at the boxing club. He is suffering physically and has arguments with Aurora but he can't leave because someone finds out that Sawyer is wanted.
When his mother and Aurora's father find them in Boston, Sawyer is beaten almost to death. He comes back to Santa Barbara. B.J. is arrested on suspicion of the Frank Goodman murder and Sawyer is forced to testify in court. At the same time he learns that his parents have separated. Sawyer deals hard with both issues but everything ends well.
The last episode is the Warren and B.J. wedding.
